Andy McDonald and Patrik Berglund scored power-play goals for the Blues and Alex Steen scored on a gift from Vancouver Canucks’ goalie Roberto Luongo as the Blues beat the league leading Canucks 3-2 Monday night at the Scott in St. Louis.

“The puck was coming towards me and I thought I had enough time to shove it over there,” Luongo said. “Obviously, it was a bad decision. He anticipated it and made me look pretty bad.” Steen, who broke an 11-game scoring slump took advantage of the miscue and gave the Blues a 2-1 lead.

St. Louis won for the third time in the last 10 games and finally got the power play working. The Blues had scored just once in 12 previous power plays, but went 2-for-5 against the Canucks. Andy McDonald connected at 5:10 of the first period for a 1-0 lead. Berglund added his goal late in the second period to make it 3-1.

Vancouver scored a third period goal, but Jaroslav Halak made 23 saves for the win.
