I’m not sure this Pro Bowl was a display of fine skills, but more of a comedy of errors as the NFC used six AFC turnovers to their advantage for a 55-41 win on Sunday.

The NFC jumped out to a 42-0 lead before the AFC ever got on the board, which came from Chiefs’ running back Jamaal Charles who scored on an eight yard run. Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Chiefs’ QB Matt Cassel were all picked off in the first half including a perfect pass by Cassel right into the hands of Vikings’ CB Antoine Winfield.

Rams’ running back Steven Jackson scored on a 21 yard touchdown run to put the NFC up by six touchdowns and I think the AFC would have had a better chance of stopping him with placing 11 tackling dummies on the ground, hoping he would trip on one.

Cassel was just 5 of 12, with two of those completions going for touchdowns, but he was also picked off twice and threw for 95 yards. His second interception was returned 49 yards by Jon Beason for another NFC touchdown.  His 69.8 QB rating was at least better than the 19 and 20 he put up at the end of the year against Oakland and Baltimore.

Charles led the AFC with 10 carries for 72 yards and a score and Dwayne Bowe picked up four catches for 54 yards while being targeted eight times. Jackson, of the Rams, carried the ball six times for 33 yards.

A crazy play at the end of the game. Cassel hit Bowe with a 21 yard pass to lateralled the ball to Jacksonville’s Montell Owens who then lateralled to Cleveland center Alex Mack who went 40 yards for a touchdown.

One interesting side note.  Former Chiefs’ tight end Tony Gonzalez had a 4-yard TD reception in the Pro Bowl, his sixth career Pro Bowl TD which is a Pro Bowl record.

The only question I had this weekend was what time does the Super Bowl pregame coverage start?
