For the second time in his career, David Backes of the St. Louis Blues had to wait for his name to be called as the NHL All Star Game Draft was held last night in North Carolina.  Backes would be drafted in the 17th round and will play for Team Staal in both the Skills Challenge tonight and the All Star Game on Sunday afternoon.

This was the first year for the All Star Draft.  In the past, players would represent their teams in their respective conferences.  This time, team captains Eric Staal from the Carolina Hurricanes and Nick Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings chose the teams.

The Super Skills Challenge will be tonight at 6:00 and will be televised on Versus.  The All Star game will be on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 and will also be televised on Versus.
