All 75 counts of animal abuse are misdemeanors, authorities say.
Virginia Gambriel of Pleasant Hope had 40 dogs, 13 cats, 10 rabbits, a pair of doves, a couple of turtles and a chinchilla when authorities raided her property last March. Three years ago, 370 animals were removed from her home. She was barred from caring for more than three animals and was put on probation for 45 days for child endangerment because there were six children in the house at the time — the oldest being 12. When she violated that probation, she served 90 days in jail. Gambriel will be sentenced on her latest convictions in two weeks.
