The Lamar Hunt Trophy, which goes to the AFC Championship team, named after the Chiefs founder is in Pittsburgh this morning after the Steelers beat the Jets 24-19.

Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu, will be preparing for the Super Bowl and will not play in the Pro Bowl. That paved the way for two Chiefs on the defensive side of the ball. Veteran linebacker Tamba Hali, who led the AFC in sacks this season and rookie safety Eric Berry, the fifth overall pick in the draft, who led the Chiefs with four interceptions will replace the two Steelers.

Berry is the first Chiefs rookie since Derrick Thomas in 1989.

Back to the AFC game. Former Missouri Tiger Ziggy Hood who plays on Pittsburgh’s defensive line had four tackles, three solos in the win. Former Tiger quarterback Brad Smith had two catches for 25 yards and two kick returns for 22 yards and a tackle on special teams for the Jets.
