Two girls have been rescued from a burning Springfield home but are in critical condition with burns on half of their bodies. They’re five and eight years old and have been moved to the Shriners burn unit in Cincinnati where they are in induced comas.

A paramedic who helped rescue one of the girls had to be treated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters think the fire started with a short circuit in an extension cord that was covered with clothes.
