St. Joseph has repealed its funeral protest ordinance. The city had been facing a lawsuit filed on behalf of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas — the organization that sets up protests at military funerals.
A bill has been introduced in the state senate to write a new state law limiting those protests. Missouri’s previous law has been ruled unconstitutional.
