The Royals have signed pitcher Luke Hochevar to a one year contract worth $1.76 million, same as last season. He was 6-6 with a 4.81 ERA last year and missed two months with a strained elbow.

He’s 19-32 with a 5.60 ERA in his career with the Royals which includes 65 starts in 69 appearances. I’m not sure Hochevear is panning out the way the Royals had hoped when they selected him with the first pick in the draft back in 2006.

Hochevar was one of those picks that was suppose to come together with guys like Zack Greinke and Brian Bannister when this team was putting their roster a couple of years ago. Well, Greinke won the Cy Young and is now in Milwaukee and Bannister never caught on either and is now pitching in Tokyo.
