The Highway Patrol has increased its visibility at the capitol, supplementing the Capitol police.

Patrol superintendent Ron Replogle says it’s been done because of the “overall security issues” including last weekend’s shootings in Arizona. He and other troopers in the Jefferosn City area make a pass through the capitol complex on their way to or from work or their duty stations.

Regular law enforcement services at the Capitol complex are handled by the Capitol police department, a separate agency of the Department of Public Safety.
