Winning on the road in the Big 12 this first weekend has posed some problems for ranked teams and the 8th ranked Missouri Tigers were one of the victims falling to the Colorado Buffaloes 89-76 in Boulder on Saturday afternoon.

CU was led by sophomore Alec Burks who scored a career high 36 points snapping the Buffs streak of 13 straight Big 12 opener losses. The Tigers (14-2, 0-1) had won nine straight games overall and nine in a row against CU.

Burks’ was supported by Cory Higgins who scored 18. Both players were singled out by head coach Mike Anderson earlier this week as being two guys Mizzou needed to be aware of. The Buffaloes led by 12 at the half and were up 18 early in the second half before the Tigers made a run cutting it to seven at 79-72 with two minutes left.

However Burks put the game out of reach hitting a technical foul shot and a jumper to build the lead to 10.

Michael Dixon led four Tigers in double figures with 17, followed by Laurence Bowers (15), Marcus Denmon (14) and Ricardo Ratliffe (11). Bowers had nine rebounds and nine blocked shots. The Tigers shot just 4 of 16 on three pointers.
