The Mizzou Tiger basketball team opens Big 12 Conference play on Saturday with a final trip to Boulder to take on the Colorado Buffaloes.  Missouri has won eight consecutive in the series, but will face a new-look and much-improved Buffs squad under first year coach Tad Boyle.

Mizzou will try to continue its best start in over 20 years.  The Tigers finished non-conference play 14-1 and open Big 12 play on the road for the first time since 2008-09.

The Tigers are actually looking for its first win in a Big 12 opener on the road.  Mizzou is 0-4 in those games, falling at Nebraska in 2008-09, at Iowa State in 2003-04, at ISU in 1999-2000 and at Kansas State in 1997-98.  Mizzou is 8-6 in Big 12-openers all-time.

Missouri’s 14-1 start is its best since the Tigers opened the 1989-90 campaign 21-1.  It’s also the best non-conference record in school history.

The Tigers are looking to extend their season high nine-game winning streak and a 10th straight win would be the longest under Mike Anderson’s watch.  Missouri hasn’t won 10 consecutive games since a 15-game winning streak back during the 1993-94 campaign.

Mizzou and Colorado will tip off this afternoon at 12:30.
