The St. Louis Blues closed the door on 2010 by holding on to beat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3 at the Scottrade Center.  The Blues won despite giving up three goals in the 3rd period, and finishes the year on a five game winning streak.

The Blues would tally their first goal of the night off of the stick of Brad Boyes about midway through the first period.  Their next two goals would come in the second from Erik Johnson and Alex Pietrangelo.

In the third, St. Louis would score again as Alex Steen put in what most people probably thought was the icing on the cake.  But, Phoenix had other plans.

About three minutes after Steen’s goal, the Coyotes Shane Doan would score.  The goal was the 700th career point scored by Doan in his NHL career.

The score would stay 4-1 until with about two minutes to play, Phoenix would score two goals in about 60 seconds.  Despite a last second flurrish, Jaroslav Halak was able to keep the shots out to seal the win.

In this game, Halak would see his scorless minutes streak come to an end at 129 minutes and 29 seconds.  He also has had shut out streaks this season of 160 and 153 minutes.

Barret Jackman finished the night with two assists.  Steen also had one assist as did David Backes, Carlo Colaiacovo and Patrik Berglund.

The Blues will have today off before they will be back in action on Sunday evening at the Scottrade Center.  They will be taking on the Dallas Stars.

St. Louis Blues game time is 5:00.
