The Missouri men’s basketball team jumped right out to a big lead and coasted against a much inferior Northern Illinois team on Monday night at Mizzou Arena as the Tigers won 97-61, giving head coach Mike Anderson his 100th coaching win at Mizzou.

The Tigers jumped out to a 17-0 lead and the Huskies didn’t get on the board until 4:41 into the game when Xavier Silas, the nation’s second lead scorer made a basket for NIU.

MU was up 40 at the break, 57-17 and the lead grew to as much as 46 points. The score could have been more, but Mizzou let NIU finish the game on a 16-7 run.

No starter played more than 25 minutes. Marcus Denmon led the Tigers with 24 points on 9 of 11 shooting. Five Tigers shot double figures. MU shot nearly 57% from the floor, but was just 6 of 21 from three point range and 17 of 27 at the line.

Kim English who played the most minutes, was the only starter under double figures. He scored just three making just 1 of 6 three points attempts and finishing 1 of 8 for the game.
