2009 Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke has been traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Milwaukee Brewers. Royals GM Dayton Moore has been open to trade talks for the face of the franchise, if teams were able to meet his demands for a centerfielder, middle infielder and two prospects. It appears Milwaukee fits the bill.

In the deal, the Royals are acquiring outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and pitching prospects Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress for the 27-year-old Greinke, who 10-14 with a 4.17 ERA in 2010 after winning the 2009 Cy Young. It is also possible that the Royals can send along infielder Yuniesky Bentancourt.

Greinke will not anchor a staff that hopes to contend with the Cardinals and Reds for the NL Central.
