The Missouri football program got some great news today and a nice start to the 2011 recruiting class today, as St. Louis, Mo. native and junior college standout defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson signed a national letter of intent to attend Mizzou.

Richardson (6-foot-4, 290 pounds) was a highly sought after recruit in Missouri and spent the past two seasons at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA. Richardson is rated by Rivals.com as the nation’s number three junior college prospect at any position.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Richardson was a dominant defensive lineman and tight end at Gateway Tech High School, where he was ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 4 overall player (any position) in the nation, as well as being the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect in the country by several national recruiting websites and publications.
