More winter weather is on its way in. Mark O’Malley is a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill near Kansas City, he says for most of the state, it should just be some light icing, but for those traveling out of state, there’s more sleet and snow in store.

O’Malley says after this system passes through, it should be cold and clear for the rest of the week, and although it’s still a bit early to forecast what’s in store for pre-Christmas travel next week, O’Malley says it looks good so far.

He says the freezing rain will likely lead to some slick spots on roads, especially bridges and overpasses, and warns motorists to take it slow and exercise caution.

He says accumulation won’t be significant. Parts of Northern Missouri could see a few flurries.

Also, motorists are urged to check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map before venturing out.
