The Iowa Hawkeyes are losing players left and right for the upcoming Insight Bowl against Missouri. Iowa will be without two more running backs after suspending one and have another leave the program.

Redshirt sophomore running back Jewel Hampton has left the program and sophomore running back Adam Robinson was suspended from the team by Head Coach Kirk Ferentz. In a statement released by Ferentz, he said, “Jewel Hampton has decided to leave the team and plans to transfer to another school to complete his degree and finish his career,” Ferentz said.  “While Adam has been cleared medically, he will not be participating in the upcoming Insight Bowl game as a result of failing to comply with team expectations and policies. Adam will have the option to rejoin the team when classes resume in January.”

Robinson was their starting running back and led Iowa with 941 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, while the team went 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten. Meanwhile, Hampton appeared in two games before suffering an ACL tear in his knee.

The latest setbacks for Iowa come just after last week’s arrest of Iowa’s top receiver, Derrell Johnson-Koulianos on drug charges. It’s also being mentioned that another running back may be looking to transfer. It looks like Iowa will start a true freshmen by the name of Marcus Coker against the Tigers.
