A big pen is being built in Kentucky to hold the Elk that will be brought to Missouri for the elk restoration project. The pen is being paid for by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Elk headed for Missouri will be held at the Kentucky pen until a quarantine period is passed and they’re determined to be safe for release here.

The Missouri Conservation Department plans to release 150 elk in a 350 square mile area of forest in southeast Missouri.
