The United States Senate has passed a bill requiring congressional oversight of operations of Arlington National Cemetery. Sen. McCaskill has been pushing for a change of operations at the cemetery since several burial discrepancies were found earlier this year. McCaskill says the disclosure that eight cremation urns were buried in a single grave with a tombstone saying “unknown” makes the oversight mandatory.

The House still has to approve the bill in the last days of the lame-duck session.
