Columbia College won in Pool E Tuesday in the opening day of pool play action at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa. Lindenwood University, from St. Charles, lost their first match.

The Cougars continued their 26-match winning streak with a 25-23, 25-18, 25-20 straight-set victory over Oklahoma City. Columbia’s Vesna Trivunovic finished with 15 kills and seven digs, while Serena Jenkins tacked on another 13 kills and 11 digs for the Cougars. Xaioting Ma put up double-figure numbers with 18 digs and 17 kills for the Stars. Columbia will meet Rocky Mountain Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Biola, looking to make its ninth trip to the quarterfinals in 10 tries, started off the first day of pool play with a sweep of Lindenwood (Mo.). The Eagles jumped out to fast start in all three sets which aided in the 27-25, 25-13, 25-23 win. Wednesday’s action will pit California Baptist and Lindenwood against each other at 1 p.m.
