Senator McCaskill wants to know how much money is spent by federal agencies trying to spin the news. McCaskill says she wants to know how much the government spends to minimize bad publicity. She says her curiosity was piqued when the General Services Administration contracted with a Kansas City PR company just after reports surfaced of contamination-related illnesses among some federal employees in Kansas City.

The contract is for $234,000.

More charges are likely against a man being held in the Mississippi County jail now that the woman he has been accused of assaulting has died.

28-year-old Laura Faison has died in a hospital. The man accused of beating her is in jail.
