The man who will decide which bills are debated in the senate next year and how much time will be spent debating them says economic development will be a top priority.

Senator Tom Dempsey of St. Peters has been chosen by the Republican majority to be the Senate’s floor leader in 20-11. He expects more budget cuts. He rules out any tax increases, even on cigarettes which have the lowest tax rate in the nation.

He says the focus will be on job creation.. “As I visited with members, as I’ve spoken with business owners, what they’d like to see us (do) is look at what are changes that can make it more inviting for every business,” he says. Dempsey says there should be no shortage of ideas from both sides of the aisle.
