The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that Derek Lilliquist has been named the Cardinals bullpen coach for the 2011 season. The also announced that Mike Aldrete will return as the team’s assistant hitting coach locking in all of their coaches for next season.

Lilliquist, has been serving as the team’s pitching coordinator for the past three seasons working out of the Spring Training complex in Jupiter, Fla. Prior to moving into his pitching coordinator role,he was the pitching coach for the Palm Beach Cardinals (A) for four years (2004-07), a coach at the club’s Peoria (A) affiliate in 2003 and at rookie level Johnson City in 2002.

The former left-handed starter-turned reliever spent five-plus years in the Major Leagues, recording 25 victories. He made 71 appearances with a 1.75 ERA for Cleveland in 1992 and earned 10 saves the following season for the Indians.
