MU will not press charges against the “Faurot Field 30″

University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor Brady Deaton says MU will not press trespassing charges against 30 fans arrested for storming Faurot Field after MU defated Oklahoma in the Homecoming football game.

MU released a statement from Deaton in which he says the game against Oklahoma presented officials with unique circumstances. He says that after careful review, the university has decided against forwarding the summons for trespassing on the field at the MU-OU game to the city prosecutor.

Though thousands ran on to the field after Mizzou’s 36-27 win Saturday, only 30 were arrested. Several had joined in to ask for leniency for those arrested.

Proposition B would make it against the law for large scale dog breeders to operate without meeting certain care standards, like providing necessary space, housing and veterinary care. It will also limit breeders to 50 dogs used for breeding. Click on this link to see the entire ballot measure.

State Senator Chuck Purgason of Caulfield says this law will only hurt the quality dog breeding operations in the state, not those being cruel to animals. He references a commercial that pointed out a breeder that had more than a hundred violations. [Read more...]

Republicans confident about keeping control of House (AUDIO)

Rep. Steven Tilley (R-Perryville)

Public opinion polls indicate that this election cycle favors Republicans. Republicans in the Missouri House hope to build on their majority while Democrats work hard to increase their numbers in the chamber.

Republicans hold an 88-to-73 majority in the Missouri House with two vacancies. Majority Floor Leader Steven Tilley, a Republican from Perryville, is confident, believing he’ll be the next Speaker of the House as Republicans add to their majority.

“Yes, I do,” Tilley responds. “My hope is to have a very strong majority in the Missouri House, but I certainly look forward to working with like-minded Democrats who will not be just told what to do by their party, but will actually do what they think is best for the state. I look forward to January.” [Read more...]
