As I drove home from Faurot Field well after midnight, I myself had to soak in the days’ events of what took place during Missouri’s Homecoming week which concluded with the dramatic 36-27 win over Oklahoma , giving the Tigers their first win over the Sooners in the last eight tries and for just the second time in 21 meetings. I have video of Saturday’s festivities from the record setting crowd at ESPN’s Game Day to the final seconds and celebration on the field from the win.

On my video, you’ll see the scene around the Columns on campus during ESPN’s Game Day where 18,000 fans showed up setting the all-time attendance records. I love how the crowd went from cheers to jeers in seconds when Lee Corso tossed the Mizzou helmet away and put on the pony head…great for television, not so great for Mizzou fans.

Then I actually take you on the Tiger Walk, which happens two hours before each Mizzou game. You’ll take the same walk the players take on their way from their buses to the locker room at Faurot Field. I got chills walking through that narrow pathway surrounded by fans who offered encouragement, hugs, pats on the back and an occasional M-I-Z, Z-O-U!

Of course, the highlight of the day was the game. The final six minutes on the sidelines were incredible. It was so loud, yet at the same time, quiet. What I mean by that is you never hear the players. You see them motion to each other, you see them communicate on both sides of the ball, but when 70,004 fans are screaming, you can’t even hear the pop of the pads.

What a rush for me when the game ends and the students and fans storm the field. Controlled chaos. Everyone is overjoyed, going crazy, yet at the same time considerate of those around them. It was a sea of gold coming together on the field to do just one thing…celebrate…and it was awesome site.

Enjoy the video, enjoy the win, and enjoy this memory which will be sure to go down in the history of Mizzou football as one of the greatest games.
