Playing just their second game since a loss on Monday night in overtime to Chicago, the St. Louis Blues welcomed the Blackhawks to the Scottrade Center last night. This time, there would be no extra time needed, as David Perron scored two goals and the Blues doubled up the Blackhawks, 4-2.
The Blues would take an early lead thanks to Perron’s first goal about six minutes into the first period. But about four minutes later the Hawks would answer and the period would end with a 1-1 tie.
In the second, just like in the first, Perron would get his second goal of the game. This one came at about the same time as the first, around the six minute mark of the frame. But, Chicago would chip one in about five minutes later, and once again there was a tie.
The tie held until about the 11 minute mark of the third when Roman Pollak would break the tie. His goal would be followed by a power play goal from Patrik Berglund with about a minute left in the game to seal the win for St. Louis.
St. Louis Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak would stop 23 shots which helps the Blues stay undefeated at home so far this season. All of the Blues’ wins have come on their home ice.
NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, who is racing today at Gateway in the Nationwide Series race, was on hand to drop the first puck. This was also Hockey Fights Cancer night. The Blues’ players all wore pink laces on their skates.
No long delay now for St. Louis as they are right back at it tonight. They will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Scottrade Center.
