Kansas City, Missouri has won a round in its economic border war with metro Kansas City, Kansas.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners has announced that it will make a move, but only a move north from its current office at Crown Center to a new office at the Town Pavilion office tower. The announcement drew cheers from Kansas City officials who feared the association would move across the state-line to the the Sprint Nextel campus. Kansas had reportedly offered five million dollars in incentves to the association. The Missouri side countered with $1.5 million.
The association, a membership group of insurance regulators in all 50 states, made the decision at its national meeting in Oralando, Florida. The association has more than 460 employees with an annual payroll of $29.7 million.
