The St. Louis County prosecutor is taking a close look at actions by Pine Lawn police chief Rickey Collins, who fired a shot at a man who had fled from a seat belt checkpoint.
He’s asked the county police department to investigate the incident. Collins says the driver hit another policeman as he swerved around the checkpoint, then appeared to be reaching for a gun after he wrecked his car and fled on foot. No gun was found. Carver’s shot missed. The man was arrested by another officer.
