Authorities continue to investigate what authorities are callingĀ a murder-suicide involving two Kirksville men.

The incident happened late Friday night at a home near Thousand Hills State Park in Adair County.

The Adair County Sheriff’s Department says 19-year-old Kyley Eugene Sutton fatally shot 38 year-old Andrew Lee Lough, went to his vehicle and then shot himself.

Both men’s bodies were discovered by deputies who responded to a 911 call at about 12:05 Saturday morning.

The Department says Sutton went to the home where Lough lived with his wife, Michelle, and their 16-year-old daughter who had been Sutton’s girlfriend for the past two years. Sutton and the girl got into an argument, at which point Andrew Lough told Sutton to leave.

Sutton went to his vehicle and got a hunting rifle, then went back inside the house. Andrew Lough told his daughter to hide, which she did. Sutton then fatally shot Andrew Lough while he was standing near the front door.

Michelle Lough says she went to where her daughter was hiding and took her to a bedroom but Sutton followed them. He reportedly told them he didn’t mean to do what he had done and left the room. The women then ran out the back door.

Michelle Lough snuck around to the front of the residence to see where Sutton had gone, she told authorities, and saw him sitting in the front seat of his vehicle with the rifle. She then saw and heard deputies pulling to the front of the home. That’s when she — and the deputies — heard a gunshot.

Deputies found Sutton’s body and the gun in his vehicle.

Autopsies have been ordered on the bodies of Kyley Sutton and Andrew Lough. Results are not expected for 4 to 6 weeks.

A memorial service for Andy Lough, 38, is set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Christ Family Church in Kirksville; there will be no visitation and the body will be cremated.

A funeral service for Sutton is Thursday at 2 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville; burial at Ownbey Cemetery. Visitation begins an hour before the service at the funeral home.
