A former Missouri Veterans Commission employee who embezzled more than $100,000 from the Commission is finally being held accountable for all her crimes.

33-year-old Stacey Griffin-Lowery pled guilty in 2008 to stealing more than $17,000, but it was later discovered that she stole another $90,000 from the commission.

That case was tried in federal court because she couldn’t face charges again at the county level. She’s been sentenced to three years probation, two hundred hours community service, and was forced to pay back the rest of the money she stole. She stole it by creating bogus invoices and directing that money to a credit card that she controlled.
