More than $17 million in federal money is heading to some of the state’s most troubled schools.

The Obama Administration has changed some of the rules of the School Improvement Grants, directing it to the five percent of schools throughout the nation with the lowest test scores. The State Department of Education says the grants to individual school districts range from $50,000

to nearly $1.7 million. Missouri should receive $54 million over the next three years. 32 Missouri schools receive money this year.
