Royals pitcher Sean O’Sullivan was 0 for 11 chances in his previous starts while looking for his first win as a starter. Thursday night O’Sullivan turned in a solid outing and got some run support from the long ball to beat the Cleveland Indians 4-2.

Mike Aviles hit a solo homer in the first inning, his seventh of the season and Kila Ka’ahiue hit his fifth homer of the season in the eighth inning. O’Sullivan pitched six plus innings allowing two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three.

The Royals bullpen of Phillip Humber, Robinson Tejada and Joakim Soria closed the door as Soria saved his 34th straight opportunity to give him 41 saves on the season.
