State Treasurer Clint Zweifel says the Unclaimed Property Auction held in Columbia Monday netted $105,000.

More than 900 lots sold. The highest bid, $1,900, was placed for a silver bar weighting 100 troy ounces. The money raised goes into a trust account in the owners name. It can also be claimed by the owner’s heirs. Items from abandoned safe deposit boxes can be sold at auction after five years of inactivity or no contact from the owner. At present, the Unclaimed Property division holds more than $3.5 million accounts, worth $600 million.
