A long night for the Kansas City Royals last night at Kauffman Stadium as the Cleveland Indians pound out 15 hits and score 11 runs on their way to an 11-4 win over the Royals.  With the victory, the Indians are now a half game ahead of the Royals in the race to stay out of last place in the Amercan League Central.

Shin Soo Choo was the offense for the Indians.  He would hit three home runs, a two run shot in the fourth, a grand slam in the sixth and he finished off the hitting display with a solo shot in the eighth.  Choo finished the night with seven RBI’s.  He becomes the first Indian to hit three home runs in a ballgame since 2004.

Kansas City starter Kyle Davies would go five innings, giving up five runs on eight hits and striking out four.  He would hand off to Bryan Bullington who would give up four runs on four hits.

Greg Holland and Brian Bannister would each give up one run.  Holland would throw the seventh and eighth and Bannister came in to pitch the ninth.

The Royals also had their bats working last night as they would have 10 hits.  Mike Aviles and Billy Butler hit back to back home runs in the sixth.  Kansas City would also leave seven men on base and were three for eight with men in scoring position.

Game two of the three game series will be tonight as Sean O’ Sullivan will get the start for the Royals.  The Indians will send Justin Masterson to the mound.

 First pitch is 6:10 tonight.
