A state autit says the little town of Randolph gets 75 to 83 percent of its city revenue from traffic fines and court costs.

Randolph has fewer than 50 people living in it but a lot of traffic goes through it on the way to the Oceans of Fun water park and a couple of casinos on the outskirts of Kansas City.

State law limits a town’s income from traffic tickets to 35 percent. Auditors say they cannot tell exacatly how much over the limit the town has been becaue of sloppy record keeping but it might be $40,000 to $54,000 too much.
