The Missouri Tiger football team got some love from college coaches in this week’s poll as the Tigers debut at 25, following their 50-6 win over McNeese State. In the AP Poll, the Tigers are back quite a bit at 32nd.

Yes, it was only McNeese State, but the Tigers were very effective moving the ball early against the Cowboys. Blaine Gabbert played into the third quarter and was 26 of 31 for 220 yards. The freshmen tailback tandem of Henry Josey and Marcus Murphy combined for over half of the team’s rushes. Josey gained 112 yards with three touchdowns while Murphy had nine carries for 33 yards.

No big surprises up at the top. Alabama and Ohio State are 1-2 after impressive wins. Boise State holds onto number three after an idle week. Not sure how the Broncos can be considered for a national championship now after Virginia Tech fell out of the Top 25 with their loss to James Madison.

Big 12 schools represented in the Coaches Poll, include Texas 4th, Nebraska 8th, Oklahoma 9th. In the AP Poll, those team are 6th, 7th and 8th with OU just ahead of NU.
