Ryan Braun’s three run homer in the fourth inning off Cardinals rookie starter Jaime Garcia put the game out of reach as St. Louis dropped an 8-1 decision to the Brewers at Miller Park on Wednesday night.

Garcia’s seven earned runs are the most he’s given up this season. Meanwhile, after Albert Pujols hit his 36th homer in the first inning off Brewers starter Chris Capuano, he settled in and pitched seven innings allowing just four hits. There was only one other extra base hit and that was a double from Pujols.

As the Cardinals postseason hopes dwindle, they may need to place all of there hopes in chasing Cincinnati. The Reds lost another game to Colorado, so St. Louis trails them by six in the Central. The deficit is bigger now in the wild card as they have dropped 6.5 games back trying to climb over three teams which will be near impossible at this point.

The Cardinals have now lost 11 of 15.
