Farmers in fourth northeast Missouri counties are being offered incentives to voluntarily adopt practices to control erosion and trap runoff in a watershed that flows into Mark Twain Lake.

State and federal agencies are putting up $3.3 million for the five-year project. It could affect 200,000 acres in Shelby, Adair, Macon, and Knox counties.
