It was worth the wait for Missouri State. After having Thursday night’s home opener postponed due to a three hour lightning delay, the Bears took care of Eastern Kentucky on Friday afternoon at Plaster Field with a 31-9 win.

Chris Douglas rushed for a career high 128 on 10 carries, including an 86 yard touchdown run late in the first half as the Bears held a 189-35 yard edge on the ground over the Colonels. Quarterback Cody Kirby also rushed for two touchdowns. Kirby also connected with Jermaine Saffold for a 29 yard touchdown pass in the second half.

T.J. Pryor, the Eastern Kentucky quarterback was 22-for-47 for 315 yards, but was sacked six times by the Missouri State defense.

The Bears will travel to play Kansas State next weekend.
