Houston’s Wandy Rodriguez pitched seven innings and three relievers completed another shutout of the Cardinals after allowing just hits in a 3-0 Cardinals loss. St. Louis drops seven behind Cincinnat who beat Milwaukee.

Hunter Pence drove in two runs in Houston’s three-run fourth inning off Chris Carpenter who took his fifth loss of the season to drop to 14-5. He gave up six hits and two walks in six innings.

The Cardinals only rally really came in the ninth. Brandon Lyon gave up a double to Matt Holliday in the ninth and walked Skip Schumaker with two outs, but pinch-hitter Randy Winn struck out to end the game as Lyon earned his 10th save.

The Cardinals were also shut out Monday on a two hit performance from J.A. Happ in another 3-0 win. The Cards have dropped seven of their last eight.
