Bruce Chen fell to 8-7 on the season and lasted just 4.1 innings for Kansas City, by allowing five runs on five hits and five walks as the Royals dropped the first game of their series with the Tigers losing in Detroit 12-3.

The Royals looked like they were dragging a bit following their 31 inning/24 hour three game set with Chicago this Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers meanwhile looked fresh, 4-0 on this current homestand. They are really swinging the bats well.

Ryan Raburn, Jhonny Peralta, and Brandon Inge each drove in three runs apiece for the Detroit and Raburn was the big hitter. Twice, KC manager Ned Yost intentionally walked Miguel Cabrera in potential RBI situations for the the leading AL MVP candidate and twice Raburn delivered clutch hits during the fifth and sixth inning.

It was that sixth inning that things got out of hand as the Tigers scored seven runs in that frame to turn a 5-2 game into a 12-2 lead.
