No official numbers yet, but it appears colleges throughout Missouri will have record enrollments this fall.

The University of Missouri-Columbia expects to report records both in the enrollment of freshman and total enrollment. The freshman class at Mizzou should top 6,000, about 10% better than last year. Total enrollment at MU is expected to edge above 32,000. MU had 30,800 on campus last year.

The state’s second largest university, Missouri State, expects nearly 19,000 students on its Springfield campus this year. Missouri State is benefitting from a big jump in students transferring to the school.

College officials have anticipated the increases. Missouri has had its largest high school graduating class in decades as the children of baby boomers move through the system.
