It took Alex Rodriguez awhile to get off career home run 599, but maybe all he needed was to face the Royals’ pitching staff. A-Rod hit three homers off three different Royals’ pitchers as the Yankees hit five homers in an 8-3 win Saturday at Kauffman Stadium.

Royals’ starter Sean O’Sullivan fell to 1-4 as he gave up three homers in 5.1 innings. He threw zereos in the first four innings, but ran into trouble in the sixth after giving up a run in the fifth.

In the span of four batters, O’Sullivan gave up three solo homers. First to A-Rod, then he retired Robinson Cano. Then Jorge Posada and Curtis Granderson went deep. Granderson’s blast was 416 feet, while Posada smashed it 441 feet to center.

A-Rod homered in the seventh and then in the ninth blasted his third of the game 449 feet to center.
