The Kansas City Royals tried to battle back, but a 5-0 deficit was too much as they come up short losing 6-4 to the L.A. Angels on Monday night. Former Angel Sean O’Sullivan took the loss.

O’Sullivan gave up six runs and 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings in his fourth start for the Royals since being traded by the Angels on July 22. He struck out a career-high six and walked one. I think O’Sullivan is still in shock that he left L.A. and ended up with lousy KC, as the Royals lost for the third time in four games.

“At first, I was a little shocked to get traded. I didn’t even know I was in trade rumors. I definitely felt like I had a future here. (L.A.)”

Most of the damage came from L.A.’s leadoff hitter, not who you would expect to be at the top of the order. Bobby Abreu had three hits and drove in four runs. The Angels are 3-1 since Abreu moved to the top of the order.
