Adam Wainwright brought his A game to South Beach last night as he would throw a complete game two hitter, and the Cardinals start a six game road trip by beating the Florida Marlins, 7-0.  The win was the 16th of the season for Wainwright.

In going the distance, Wainwright would strike out seven while walking two.  His ERA for the season is now at 2.07.  The only Florida hits would come in the third and the eighth innings.

The Cardinal bats would pound out 13 hits.  Six of these would be doubles.  Aaron Miles would hit two of these.  Jon Jay would also have three hits in the ballgame.

The big blow would come off the bat of Albert Pujols.  He would hit his 28th home run of the season, a three run shot, in the third inning.  Pujols is now just six home runs shy of the 400 mark.

St. Louis is now 13 games over the .500 mark for the third time this season.  The win also keeps them a half game behind Cincinnati in the NL Central.  The Reds shut out the Cubs yesterday afternoon in Chicago, 3-0.

Game two of the series is this evening as Jake Westbrook makes his second start for the Redbirds.  The Marlins will counter with their 10 game winner Josh Johnson.

First pitch is 6:10.
