Kansas City would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning of their game last night with Seattle, but that would be the only run they would score as they open a three game series with a 7-1 loss.  The Royals have now lost two games in a row.

Zack Greinke, playing in the 200th game of his career, would go seven innings, but would give up six runs on 10 hits.  This would also be the first time in 10 career starts against Seattle, that Greinke would lose.  The record for last year’s AL Cy Young Award winner is now at 7-11.

The only Kansas City run would come in the third inning.  Billy Butler would hit an RBI single that would score Gregor Blanco.  The Royals could not convert another scoring opportunity in the fifth.  They would have two on with no outs, but could not push across a run.

Tonight, the Royals will send Bruce Chen to the hill while Seattle will go with Jason Vargas.  Game time is 9:10.
