The St. Louis Cardinals have completed a three-way deal just before the tradiing deadline that brings them another starting pitcher but costs them a former all-star outfielder.

The Cardinals get Cleveland pitcher Jake Westbrook. They lose former all-star outfielder Ryan Ludwick to the San Diego Padres. They also get a minor league pitcher, Nick Greenwood, from the Padres. Greewood is 4-4 with a 4.15 ERA in Low A-ball. He’s headed to the Cardinals minor league team in the Quad Cities. The Padres also have given a minor league pitcher to Cleveland.

Westbook has been 6-7 this year with the Indians, with an ERA of 4.65. Ludwick, who came off the 15-day disabled list a week ago, is hititng .281 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs. He pinch hit in last night’s game, doubled, and scored the winning run int he 11th inning against the Pirates.
