The Cardinals and Diamondbacks played Wednesday afternoon at Busch Stadium, a long game of almost four hours in a 4-2 final with the Cardinals losing another third game while going for a sweep.

Chris Young hit a two run homer in the fifth inning for Arizona off losing pitcher Jeff Suppan, who went 5.2 innings allowing four runs, three earned. The Cardinals first run came on Matt Holliday’s two out triple in the first inning and later they cut the lead in half with a run in the eighth on a RBI hit from Jason LaRue who finally came up with a hit with runners in scoring position, his first of the season, as the buck-fifty hitter filled in for Yadier Molina.

This was the eighth series this season where the Cardinals had won the first two games and were unable to finish off the sweep.
