Matt Holliday didn’t do much for Oakland in his half season in the American League, but he beat up their pitching this weekend including two solo home runs in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Oakland.

Holliday finished the three game series going 8 for 12 with four home runs and eight RBIs. It was the 14th multi-homer game of his career.

However, A’s starter Trevor Cahill and relievers Craig Breslow and Andrew Bailey held the St. Louis offense in check, except for Holliday. Bailey recorded four outs for his 13th save in 16 opportunities and came up big in the eighth when he got Albert Pujols to fly out with runners on first and third to end the eighth. Pujols also struck out twice in the game.

The A’s hitting hero was Kevin Kouzmanoff. He went 4 for 4 with two singles, a double, and also slammed a solo home run in the fourth inning to help Oakland snap a four-game losing streak.
