For the sixth time in Royals’ history a batter has hit home runs from both sides of the plate. Last night, Wilson Betimit, playing first base, hit two solo shots against the Twins to help lead the Royals to a 9-8 win.

Betimit’s ninth inning homer off lefty Brian Duensing gave the Royals a 9-6 lead, but Joakim Soria gave up two runs before finishing the game off. Betimit’s first homer of the game came off Twins’ starter Scott Baker in the third inning. To top it off, Betimit’s homer came after Mitch Maier hit a two run homer.

Bruce Chen, filling for for injured Gil Meche, cruised through the first six innings giving up a solo home run to Jason Kubel, but in the seventh, Chen gave up four straight hits and left the game in what turned out to be a five run inning for Minnesota.

Jose Guillen went 3 for 5 with an RBI, Betimit and Maier each had two RBI in the game.
